How we approach early learning
We integrate key elements from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf educational philosophies into our early learning environment, aligning them within the Alberta Flight Framework. The Montessori approach emphasizes hands-on, self-directed learning; Reggio Emilia values the environment as a "third teacher" and collaboration; while Waldorf encourages creativity and a holistic connection to the world. Together, these elements create a rich, dynamic curriculum that supports each child's unique interests and abilities while meeting Alberta’s standards for early learning.

The Flight framework, Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework, is a play-based curriculum designed to guide early childhood educators in fostering holistic development for children aged 0 to 6. It emphasizes the importance of play as a central, exploratory process through which children learn, make sense of the world, and co-construct their curriculum. The framework encourages educators to view children as "mighty learners and citizens," promoting reflective and intentional practices that support children's unique potential. It also highlights the significance of building strong early childhood communities by collaborating with families and respecting diversity. Grounded in principles of inclusivity, creativity, and critical thinking, the Flight framework provides a flexible, thoughtful approach to nurturing children's growth and learning.
